The Color Run 5k, The Happiest 5k: 2014 Kaleidoscope Tour
On Saturday, February 22nd, Valley Key Club arrived at Fremont Street Experience in Downtown Las Vegas at 7AM, to celebrate yet another Color Run. Unlike other clubs, this year, Valley Key Clubbers wore different colored shirts to celebrate the variety of Key Clubbers at Valley High School. This, was the beginning to a great service event.
After signing in, Valley Key Club missed the large Color Run van in hopes of volunteering at the Blue Dye Station. In lieu of this, the club had walked a good 4 blocks until they became lost. After walking back to the volunteer station to receive more information, the club was able to ride golf carts around Downtown Las Vegas in hopes of finding the Blue Dye Station with the event coordinators.
Some Key Clubbers went to colored stations to help color runners, while others volunteered at Water Stations to quench the thirst of runners during the 5k. It was quite messy and wet, but the club continued to serve on! After, members had the opportunity to run through the Pink Dye Station, and also run through the finish line. Members were also able to have fun by attending the Color Run Festival and Dance Party held right after the event in Downtown Projects, Las Vegas.
All in all, the Color Run 5k of 2014 was a big event for the club! Many members had the opportunity to work along with other Key Clubbers there, from other high schools, and also understand the importance of community service.
